Growing

A poem about how there is nothing to be afraid of in finding out and experiencing new things about yourself, and God. You can subsitute any age as there are no limits …

At 60 years a toddler,
Finding I have new legs that I can run with,
Setting off like the wind, and falling
Needing to be picked up, dusted off and reassured.
You’re not disappointed, so nor am I.
I am off again,
Running, growing in confidence.

At 60 years a toddler
Finding I have new skills I want to give a go
Daubs of colour, words on paper, that
Need to be interpreted, understood, appreciated.
You’re not disappointed, so nor am I.
I am having another go
Exploring, growing in confidence.

At 60 years a toddler
Finding I have many feelings I didn’t understand
Layers, onion like, that make me cry
I need to find the truth, the false belief from where they start
You’re not disappointed, so nor am I.
I am setting myself free
Its joyous, growing in confidence.
